Sushi: The One Food That Unites the World

For those that are hoping this will be a post entirely dedicated to gushing about my love for sushi, and its popularity in Kuwait, allow me to disappoint you.
On that resounding note, I shall also introduce myself. I'm S. At this point, it's all you really need to know about me. However, commencing my blogging journey without a proper introduction seems cheap. Allow me to paint a brighter portrait of my dim life: I was a fairly happy bookworm living in a country that provided free health care and maple syrup to its citizens. I am now a fairly happy adult who lives in a country that provides free health care and ridiculously affordable machboos to its citizens. A story for the ages.

When I was informed of the move to Kuwait, my primary concern was "Do they even have Sushi over there?!" My knowledge of Kuwait was limited to, um...well, it was limited.
Two years later, I have discovered that Kuwait is quite possibly home to more Sushi joints than Japan. It seems silly, all this time later, to have ever questioned Kuwait's accessibility to all things hip and trendy. OOPS! You'll have to excuse me, I knocked over my cup of Pinkberry and got it all over my Blackberry.

Have to run off to change into another Juicy tracksuit,

S.

Friday Flicks #1

one word: C L A S S I C

awesome movie, once you're done watching you have learned absolutely nothing, except maybe how to ditch school and live for a day. Honestly there's no way a person can watch this movie and not cheer up. Mathew Broderick is hilarious and so is his worried friend. I swear they dont make movies like these anymore... Its just funny! i really cant describe it ;p u have to watch it yourself and if i have to rate it then it'l get the "classic" rating.

Iron Man 2 Review!!

I just came back from iron man2, a movie ive been psyched to watch for months! The catch? thanks to my lovely friends i missed the first 20 minutes of it :( The fact that i still got what was going on was great. The movie was action packed, and thank to Robert Downey Jr. it had the same hilarious lines in between, the plot was great i was disappointed it KNCC didnt play it in 3D but still it was amazing! and the only that was off was the fact they replaced Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle. Great movie and worth the time i give it

9 out of 10 rating

Art?

I always thought graffiti held some truth or a deeper meaning and thats why its on the streets instead of an artsy fartsy museum as if it was there to remind people of some simple truths. Here are some the ones I like :)

Famous Last Words

I find famous people's last word interesting, especially before they're assassinated and they dont they're about to die. However, when they do know you find them either funny or well thought here are some of them tell me what you think :)

"My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has to go." -
Oscar Wilde

"It's very beautiful over there"

-Thomas Edison

"I'd hate to die twice. It's so boring."
-Richard Feynman

"I'm going away tonight."

- James Brown
"Cool it, brothers..." (His last words before being assassinated.)
-Malcolm X

Inspiring :)

Meaningful Words

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

- William Ernest Henley

invictus is latin for undefeated :)

I just find this extremely powerful and i thought of sharing it with whoever is reading this blog *wink* (if u exist anyway) but the last two lines are mind blowing empowerment at least i think so ...

Afghan Girl

3 years ago my dad gave me this small packet from National Geographic it was "10 pictures you will never forget." The pictures were pretty cool but one of them just stuck out so i folded it up and pinned it up to my cork-board. This was the picture:

I just knew she was from Afghanistan and they took the picture in 1987.. Then my brother came into my room a few weeks ago and asked who she was, when i told him i didnt know he looked her up and turns out her story was pretty fascinating, and in 2002 the team who first took the picture went back to Afghanistan and tried to find her. Her name is Sherbat Gula.

If you want to read the rest of her story you can find it here
