In life, things will sometimes run their course and come to a stand still. I have loved every minute I spent writing for this blog, reading your comments and trying to figure out what to rant about next. We've had a good run guys, but I guess it's time to move on.

Don't worry though, S. isn't going to leave you hanging. I have a coule side projects that I worked on a bit this summer. There's my blog on Blogger, The Expat Files, and there is a newer one I've started on Wordpress (I'm greedy, don't judge me :P) called Running Around Aimlessly. I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep both in the long run, but for now I'm just going to go for it. Feel free to join my insanity on either platform. :)

I love you all, and you guys have been beyond amazing. Know that this time around, words are truly not enough.

College Prep 102 - Ring Ring

About a week ago, I wrote a post talking about some of the things I was doing to prepare for college. I got some great feedback, and so I've decided to turn "College Prep" into something of a blog series. What this means is that I'll keep you, our lovely readers and always welcome guests, posted on the things I'm doing leading up to my first day of university.

After my last post, some of you had some questions and so here's me dishing up some answers and general S. trivia. Being away for most of the day means I really need to start charging and answering my phone. I 've become quite stellar with making sure it's always charged, but haven't actually gotten into the hang of answering it just yet. *FacePalm* To celebrate and commemorate my small achievement, (100% battery baby!) I'm making a tag and the rules are simple; all you have to do share five phone-related facts about yourself. How Kuwaiti is this tag? :)

My five phone facts are as follows:

I got my first mobile phone when I was eleven. Pimpin'.....I know.
All my phones have been either black or silver. I don't "do" pink and/or fluorescent shades.
I rarely charge or answer my phone. I just don't.
My current phone is a Samsung. I'm bored with it and I'm contemplating getting either an iPhone or a BlackBerry curve. Don't say it, I know I'm a sell-out.
I didn't have my own number memorized until May of this year. The only other number I know is my mother's. True story.

College Prep 101

I have exactly three weeks and three days until I begin University. I am both nervous and excited, but mainly nervous. I'm also hungry, but that has less to do with the fact I'm beginning University and more to do with the fact it's Ramadan and there are six hours left until sunset.

However, let's do our best to distract ourselves, shall we? Seeing as how University starts in a few weeks, and schools even sooner, I thought I'd share my survival tactics. I am going to tell you about some of the things I'm doing to prepare for the next stage of my life (I feel so dramatic saying that LOL!). So here it is:

I have to go shopping. I have a love/hate relationship with shopping, as in I like buying new things but I hate people and malls.

Download a bunch of TV shows and movies. This is to help me out/cheer me up in between classes (Shhh!) because some of my breaks are 3 hours long. Not worth going home, and like I said I dislike people so I don't really plan on "talking" to anyone.

Hitting up a bookstore and getting a couple of thick paperbacks. Same reason as above.

Slowly fixing my sleeping pattern/routine. My bad sleeping habits drove me crazy during high school, and I don't want University to turn sour because of it.

Practicing actually answering my phone. I kid you not, when people have tried to reach me in the past, they call my mother because I never charge or answer my phone.

The Emmys aired a few days ago, and it was hilarious as usual. It's my favorite (serious) awards show, MTV doesn't count LOL, because it always seems like everyone who is there is happy and grateful for their success. Unlike the Oscars, where it sometimes feels like some of the nominees have yet to break character....**Cough**Daniel-Day**Cough**

Jimmy Fallon did great job hosting, you could tell he was enjoying himself! Jane Lynch's acceptance speech was by far my favorite (GLEEK alert!!!!) All in all, I think TV actors are the best; they keep it real and are down to Earth.

Oh, yeah...Did I mention that SHELDON WON AN EMMY!!!! Congratulations to Jim Parsons who helped put a smile on my face through many horrible days spent as a high school senior.

I'm so sorry I've been so AWOL lately, I've been running around getting papers and University things together and with Ramadan....well, let's just say I've been burning some serious daylight. :)

I have tried posting a few times but Blogger uploads my post.....only to delete it a few hours later. This has been very annoying and I can honestly say I've had it with Blogger. However, that doesn't actually mean anything because the blog is blogge, so I'm left forever a victim of its abuse. Confession

Readers i have a confession to make: I hated "the notebook". Yes, i know hate is a strong word but i fully mean it, and while i type this i feel like im betraying my female nature but i have to say that movie was awful and long. It didnt even make me cry i had to pretend to be sad and i cried watching a walk to remember and the last song heck i even cried when Nemo was reunited with his dad. I know this may upset people but i find no beauty in the plot i mean yes she gets Alzheimer at the end and he oh so romantically reads her their "story" everyday so she can remember him for 5 min then goes back to hate him? They dont show you this but im pretty sure somewhere deep down anger is building inside him and one day he just shook her for not remembering him and then she died from a heart attack because of the shock (now thats entertaining). I will never understand people's fascination with the movie theyre in love then theyre angry then they love each then they dont talk then he builds her a house then she becomes a really old lady who cant remember her own husband. All im saying is, a good romantic movie is hard to find these days and so our standards became so very low (damn you twilight). This truly saddens me.

You may now precede to tell how im wrong about this.

p.s: i think my anger in this post is more towards the fact that i start junior year in less than a month and im very freaked out about it.

What Happened to Black and White?

I absolutely adore classics, classic dresses, classic cars, but most importantly i LOVE classical movies. The black and white forgotten films or movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's they're old but you can never get tired of watching them. Today's movie recommendation? "Casablanca" vintage black and white classical romance granted it's a love triangle it's a pretty good romance and it keeps you hooked to figure how it's gonna end (i wont ruin it). Alot of classical sayings came out of this movie and it's always good to watch something black and white every once in a while a movie where the plot sells itself instead of all the money spent on special effects and over the top set designs. Im gonna keep posting my favorite classical movies but for now if you love a good romance you have to watch this :)

I hate call of duty, hate it , loathe it, and wish for its creator to drop dead, come back, then drop dead again. Everytime my brother plays that game i have stop my downloads every single time sometimes i just wanna go downstairs and burn the CD and i know it's not just my brother cause all my friends suffer from the same problem i blame my frustration on boys and their inability to focus on things other than sports, cars, food, diwaniyas, and games where they kill people. Mean while i've drawn the cartoon above to release my suppressed anger so i dont get in a fight with my big brother and end up buried somewhere in the house.

'I never understood why some girl walked around the mall holding giant bags and i always wondered what do they actually put inside them? My sister however is one of those people so to answer my nagging question i took (more like stole) one of her medium sized bags out of her closet and emptied it out to see what's inside. What to Read?

1. A Long Way Gone: a memoire of a boy soldier in Sierra Leon itga6i3 galb ya nas so if you cant handle it dont even try.

2. To Kill A Mockingbird: CLASSIC and a really great book, starts slow but leaves you in awe at the end.

3. A Summer to Die: sad book like tear jerking sad (i cry, alot) but really good and i know how the title sounds but its not an emo book.

4. The Giver: extremely thought provoking and really great puts you in a whole different world.

5. Speak: very very RAW but it goes through a person's emotions and thoughts like no other book.

i need to update m reading list, any suggestions?

The Real Mystery of "LOST"

I havent watched LOST in two year but i remember i used to be a huge fan back in middle school so when i saw the series finale was on show series today i thought i should watch it (it really sucked) but all i could think of was "Damn Hurley's been stranded for 6 seasons and he still hasnt lost weight". I mean seriously isnt anyone else intrigued?

I have a few theories:

1. He's like camel he ate so much before the crash that his body started storing food till when he really needed.
2. The island kept him fat because that's what makes him cheerful and he would lose that if he lost weight like Il Jasmy lost his voice when he became thin.
3. My version of the finale: there was no food left on the island so they kill Hurley and eat him till they run out of food.

I know the show isnt the most realistic one but i still dont understand why they didnt make him lose weight.. just doesnt make sense...

Zain... Which Hell Hole Did You Escape From?

Before i begin this post i have to clarify im not really a cellphone person, i actually dont mind living without them and anyone who knows me will tell you that if they needed something or wanted something they would tweet me or facebook or even flickr but the chances of me checking my phone is extremely narrow. Moving on, before i left for Germany Zain sent me the *pay your bill text* which i ignored cause even when they cut my line i can still get it back but when i came back they had finally manned up and fully shut down my line even after i paid the amount they texted me. So i was faced with a dilemma 1. tell dad i didnt pay and i lost my line or 2. pretend im not into phones anymore. So i chose 2 till my brother outed me after futoor today because he couldnt call me yesterday, i told them i was too much of a wimp to call Zain and face the fact i needed a new number so my brother told me to check that i did pay my bill fully. Guess what? Zain neglected to tell me that there were 5 K.D unpaid. Zain i hate you, you are as bad as Voldemort but you're even worse because you dont have and awesome name and terrible commercials and no I dont want to buy a freaking blackberry because i know it wont cost me just 30 bucks so stop messing around. Go back to hell *dirty look*

Now i dont have to ask because i know for a fact everyone has an issue or a story they went through with Zain hit me up with your worst..

Movie Review: (500) Days of Summer

I watched this movie 3 times by now and i still dont know how i feel about it.. I cant decide whether i hate it or love it. It's about this couple Summer Finn and Tom Hanson, now im not gonna lie there's something pretty different about the story they changed the stereotype and made the girl the one who doesnt want a relationship and they made the guy the one who believes in soul mates. They movie revolves around the two and go through the entire course of the relationship. At the beginning they tell you that it's not a love story but being the helpless romantic that I am i thought that it WAS in fact a love story ( kind of got pissed at myself when it ended and it wasnt a love story). The movie was a bit long but i have to admit that the directing is amazing the way they shot and made the scene was pretty different even id i hated the movie (which im not sure about) i'd still have to admit the director was a visionary. Part of the reason i bought the DVD was because I love both Joseph Gordon Levitt (3rd rock, inception) and Zooey Deschanel (Yes Man) and they both played their roles awesomely the other part is my very weird friend kept raving about it on twitter.

For the acting and directing i give it a 7/10 but i dont know about the plot itself..

this is an almost silent movie that depicts words in a different way, it shows you different uses of the word and how its used. It's kind of fun trying to figure out which words theyre showing you and i love the directing it's actually quiet fascinating..

Hey guys sorry I havent posted in a while i went to Mecca for 3omra and turns out its pretty hard to get wifi there (and you know im there to pray as my parents generously pointed out so many times). Here are some things I learned while i was there:

1. When a bunch of guys stare at you when you walk into Starbucks that should be your first clue that you walked into the guys section.
2.Never go to Baskin Robbins after tarawee7 you'll end up being shoved and pulled for 45 min for a single scoop.
3. Never listen to your cousin when they tell you that if you go out at night you will "get kidnapped and get your hands cut off and acid on you eyes and then force you to beg" and end up screaming every time someone comes near you.
4. Hide camera from cops with your mom's awesome zorro like abbaya that you "accidentally" thought was your own.
5. You must come 30 min before Athan il i3sha if you dont wanna end up praying next to the shoes outside.

and with that i conclude my findings :)

1. PLEASE turn off your blackberries we're praying for god's sake.
2. If you're bringing your kid do not let it sit in front of me while i attempt to asjid i really dnt appreciate squishing my body and twisting it in painful ways.
3. Though my crocs are hideous i dont appreciate staying for 15 minutes looking for them and eventually finding them on the street that's just nasty.

We all know I'll forever be a young, geeky boy trapped in the body of a girl (woman?), so that coupled with the fact Obsessco completely inspired me with her version of this post, which you can read here, I thought I make a little list of things I'd like to do at some point in my life.

Bungee Jump: This one is will happen, if it's the last thing I do (Not really). However, I am very adamant about the fact I want to do it in Canada, so it'll be a while before I'm back there. I will let you when it happens though, so you just wait and see!
Attend a UK music festival during the summer: I can't decide if I'd want to do this alone or with someone. I'm something of a loner...The festivals I have in mind are Glastonbury & Oxegen.
Go to Japan and walk around dressed in the local wacky fashion: I have a sick sense of style that is too outrageous for this side of the globe. Shredded tights and black lipstick anyone?
Spend 3 months traveling around Europe/Asia....ALONE: Like I've said before, I'm something of a loner. While I always enjoy an audience, I'm not always comfortable around company/other people. The thought of just being completely alone, in some of the most beautiful and historic spots in the world takes my breath away. Sometimes I feel like this new technologically-wired culture my generation has come up with is so erosive to the most important relationship you will ever be a part of: the one with yourself.

Crunching The Numbers

Sometimes I feel like I have a million and one things to worry about; societal obligations, personal goals, academic standards...these things can pile up and before you know it, you're screaming into your pillow out of sheer frustration. I've always considered myself to be a cool cat that can roll with the punches, but it's the things that I can't always control that drive me nuts. Whenever I am in need of some serious release I always go back to my tried and true methods:

Chatting with a friend: I can always guarantee myself a good laugh when I talk to the people I love the most.
A long, hot shower: I don't think this one needs a lot of explanation, and since it's summer in Kuwait, there is always plenty of hot water.
Cranking up the Rock'n'Roll and pounding some pavement: I'm not athletic by any means (Mega-klutz alert!), but I've always enjoyed running. Granted, I haven't really been able to run outdoors like I used to in Canada, but the gym I go to has a decent track that helps me out on those days when I feel like pulling a Scarface and introducing everyone to a little friend of mine. Chyeah.

Travel Journal: Day One

I know I said I was going to be gone for a while but it seems that my insomnia is back and I have Wifi. Okay so my day started at 6:30 where I woke up so early that I managed to squeeze some Prison break before have to change J even though I only slept a couple of hours… So okay il mohim we get to the airport and guess what? Thanks to the fine management at Kuwait 4 planes were shoved into the same gate it was CRAZY. Did I mention im afraid of take off? The plane ride wasn’t bad since I slept most of it off. Blah blah blah we land we get luggage, we go to the hotel, all the typical stuff. THEN the real day began J

The weather is AMAZING the sad thing is my parent are fans of walking L yes, exercise, L but the weather was so nice I didn’t mind. So we get to this historical village and we walk around and what do we get ourselves into? A Gay Carnival Food thing! Oh yes rainbow flags everywhere! Literal rainbow flags!

Ilmohim I'll make this short, my weird findings of the day: they have a MAGGI store like an actual restaurant just for that!

My waitress was this Afghani girl who reminded me so much of that girl on National Geographics so naturally I took a picture of her for you guys .

I found this really cool Graffiti/artsy thing inside one of the tunnels and a house with a stair that I have yet to figure out the purpose of.

Fact: I Hate Asking For Help.

Yes, the above title is true. Asking for help, along with apologizing, are the two things I would rather die than do. However, since my fiery persona only exists online, I find myself committing both sins often. Too often for my liking.

Back to the topic at hand, I'm starting university in the fall and will be spending copious amounts of time around people....people that I don't understand. The thing is growing up in Canada taught me many things, but it didn't teach me some essential skills for life here. I can't speak "Kuwaiti" that well, and my grasp of this dialect is as weak Ke$ha singing live (Still love her though). Add that to my completely oblivious nature in regards to social protocol, and you have an outcast in the making. All jokes aside. I turn to you, my loyal followers and always welcome guests, for some social advice in regards as to what I can be doing to decrease the awkward factor as I transition into life as a disciple of the beast that is KU.

I will be extending this notion into a blogging series, where as I go through my days as a Freshman I'll be blogging about my experiences and seeking help from you, my cyberspace friends. I'm actually growing excited at the concept of starting out on the next part of my young life.

It's That Time Again...

I know that the different school systems in Kuwait (public, private, etc.) run on different schedules, but I think it's safe to say we've all had our fair bit of lazy indulgence. That said, it dawned on me that we're rapidly approaching the PNR of our cherished summer vacation: the point of no return. This means two things to yours truly:

I need to throw away my calendar, and cherish my last three months of freedom before university life.

It's time to start chipping away at the goals I've outlined for myself during this blistering heat (Yeah...I'm complaining about the heat. Deal with it.)

My goals for this summer are of the simple variety, and list is as follows:

Get into the best shape possible. I recently stumbled across this blog, a Rock'N'Roll approach to dieting and fitness, penned by the former (and supposedly) current love of the magnificent Lady Gaga. I find it a great read when I need to get myself into an iron mindset for the gym.
Brush up on my French. Growing up in Canada meant I was subjected to endless hours of French grammar and vocabulary lessons. While I don't claim fluency, I can manage myself on the streets of Paris if I were to ever find myself there, stranded. Which is random, but it could happen.
Read five novels before the end of August (Magazines don't count). The S. of Canada would have never even needed to make this a goal. In my life before Kuwait, reading was my number one priority after school. However, people grow up and feelings fade.....and here were are, with me having to carve out time time read. To help accomplish this one, I'm going to be checking out the book store Obsessco mentioned here.

Tell me my brothers in arms and pain (This heat is bullshit! Yeah, I went there.), what are your goals/plans/hopes for this summer? Leave a comment and try to inspire me, or you know, whatever.

Im going to gush about this movie more than review it, DEAL WITH IT!

one word: Awesome-Epicness im aware that's two words but this movie defies any rules, it's simply one of the best movies i've ever watched and considering i watch as many movies as i eat i'll say i am a pretty good judge. it fulfills the requirement for any great movie:

1. Good actors
Leonardo DiCaprio's is a good actor im not going to dwell on this, but Joseph Gorden-Levitt who also did "G. I. Joe" and "500 days of summer" which wasnt as well known but did get a couple of oscar nomination. In this movie he was AMAZING, and Ellen Page who did "Juno" was also in it and she did really well.

2. Good Script
The details that went into the story made it so good and believable its almost like reading a book because you could see all the emotions and the history and it was beautiful. Although there are some holes in the story and the ending is sort of confusing but if you dont focus too much you wont notice them.

3. Graphics/Directing
im gonna get in touch with my British side and sum this in two words"Bloody Brilliant." (the same guy who directed the dark night by the way)

So yeah i think this is by far one of the best movies yet and while it doesnt have robots, vampires, aliens, toys, or comic book characters in iron suits its worth watching so get your tickets and pay attention because its really intense and complicated i kept literally jumping off my seat and scaring my friends. '

Ronald McDonald: Child Molester

Aside from my general hatred of McDonalds and everything it stands for, ever since i was a child i always found Ronald creepy and it never made sense to me why they chose him as there "mascot". When i was a kid and my mom used to put me on the bench with the sculpture of him sitting down i used to cry till they let me get up. Growing up now i realize he look a little like a child molester you might find on one of Oprah's expose episodes. Clowns are creepy by just being clowns but Ronald takes to a whole new level with the creepy red hair and that line going through his eyes and that awful yellow jumpsuit. He's probably why i have a slight dislike to Ron Weasley in Harry Potter. I mean is it just me or is he really creepy?

Current Irritation: Call of Duty

My big brother loves this game, i on the other hand want to break the CD, throw it in the trash, and pretend it mysteriously disappeared. Every time he plays the game i have to stop my downloads because i "lag" him so i have to sit for hours waiting for him to finish so i can watch youtube and download stuff. I honestly tried to understand why all the boys ages 7 to 30 play during friday lunch. All i could see was them killing other "soldiers" and praising each other on their artistic kills, is this what we stooped to? And back when i played play station (the golden age of pokemon) u get three lives tops then you die, but from what i gather the number of time you die in this game is infinite! not only that, but you get a "kill cam" to see how you died. So to show my utter annoyance i drew a very retarded cartoon for you dear readers.

If you're a person who plays the game PLEASE tell me whats so damn fascinating about it? and does anyone have the same problem?

YAAY Another Dan Brown Movie

Dan Brown's latest book featuring Dr. Robert Langdon, "The Lost Symbol" is going to be turned into a movie released in 2012 :) I'm DESPERATELY hope they don't butcher it like the last one. I mean "The Da Vince Code" wasnt as amazing as the book but it did get most of the plot right. Dont get me started on "Angels and Demons" though it butchered the book so bad i kept yelling at the screen, everything from the character's background to not explaining who the Illuminati are made me so angry especially when they took out the ending. I mean i think they took it off because of the Vatican and stuff but come on when has that ever stopped them? I really really have high hopes for this one cause this book is just as awesome. This one is more about Masons and takes place in D.C as opposed to the first 2 that are mostly about the church and Illuminati Rome and Paris. I read the book over spring break and its really good but kind of disgusting when it comes to the villain so i recommend it as a summer read cause Robert Langdon is like the nerdy James Bond he gets a new girl each book ;p

Behold, this my bed the same bed that i've been trying to sleep in for the past 4 hours. Till I finally realized there is no way that i might be sleeping anytime soon :( and yes that is a teddy bear you see and no im not a baby im just traumatized by "chucky" and afraid if i throw it'll attack me at nigh so dont judge.

So since it's five i have been forced to make my own breakfast the very effective yet oh so delicious cornflakes ala Obsessco where i cleaverly add icecream and whipped cream to my cornflakes :) and drinking the elixer of life coffee (this where i REALLY woke up)and since i'm as sober as i can be being the wonderful student that i am, I shall read book and entertain you with my mindlesss chatter :)

Summer Read: Thirteen Reasons Why

Okay if you're into the kinda weird yet fascinating genre like me, you are going to love this book. It starts with a guy going to his front porch afterschool to see a wrapped parcel addressed to him with no return address. He opens it to find Thirteen cassette tapes are from his classmate who killed herself a couple of before. In the the first tape she explains that if you get the box that means your one of the Thirteen Reasons why she killed herself. With it comes a map of the places she mentions and instructions to send them to the next person on the tapes. The book is SO good that you finish it in one sitting, I recommend it :)

Summer Traditions

I always believe in summer traditions like coming up with an "artistic" experiment every summer that destroys something around the house. That was achieved with the microwave/shoe experiment. Tradition 2: Spend a week and a half looking exactly like the guy in the cartoon in my movie pjs except i have a phone, ipod, laptop, camera, microwave popcorn, and icecream, everything i need right next to me. I watch my favorite canceled tv shows.
Three seasons of Gilmore Girls in no particular order, a show that taught me the importance of coffee and many amazing combacks. This show couldnt be anymore perfect and while my mother refers to it as the "hathra" show it will always be my secret comfort :)
Three seasons of Veronica Mars because that's all they every produced -.- I command you to watch it because it's awesome.

Then after this i watch random episodes from: Greys Anatomy, How I met your mother, Malcolm in the Middle, My name is Earl, and some cartoons.

after this tradition is over. I choose a new tv show to watch this summer it seems to be Brothers and Sisters i only watched 5 episode but it looks great :)

Toy Story Tuesday: "Skipping Ropes are For..."

When i was 10 i used to watch this show called "il mo7a8e8 conan " (detective conan) it was a manga about this guy who gets shrunk into being a kid and solves crime and stuff. One of the episodes the crime was that this guy "hung himself" (the butler did it ;p) finding out people can die from wrapping ropes around their necks was automatically stored in my head.

Days pass by and the episode it forgotten till my mom leaves to get somethings done and my big brothers who were at highschool back then wouldn't let me play with them so what does my dumb yet intelletegent 10 year old self do? I go into my room, get the barbie skipping rope and wrap it around my neck while holding one part in the air and stand on my bed. My big sister walks in to find me yelling that I won't unwrap it till they let me play with them and win. My siblings spend the next half hour trying to negotiate and convince to drop the rope.

After that I got to play with them and needless to say that after mom found out barbie skipping ropes were forever banned in our house :) which is prob why I suck at skipping ;p

I'm not sure what the morale of the post is.. But I think it's keep skipping ropes away from children and always always negotiate :D

The Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows trailer was released like an hour ago and OH MY GOD i dont know whether to cry or laugh or do both! At first i have to thank Lumos
im ashamed of myself for not knowing it was being released now but THANK YOU! The little computer nerd was amazed by the clarity of the trailer. I had to go second by second because they had so MUCH in it. Everything i mean everything is in it from the book and and the epic-ality is amazing i can almost burst! thank god my family are deep sleepers or they'll kill me for all the gushing and yelling. Voldemort's face is sort of creepy but oh my god i have high hopes for this movie. Oh god i know understand the saying " a child in a candy store" im bursting with potter pride. I am sad though, it just hit me that its ending but my child will read harry potter the moment they learn how to read.

Fellow potheads, how are we feeling?
i'll gush later im watching a live episode of mugglecast right now.

p.s: is it weird i feel like someone dosed me with excessive amounts of caffeine? seriously im feel freakishly refreshed.

1. On the first day at school when your crying and dealing with abandonment issues because its the first time you leave the nest and the teacher says ur mom is coming back SHE'S LYING.

2. how to con kids out of their candy: when the teacher hands out Quality Street take the best one, eat it, refill it with tissues, rewrap it to make it look the same and switch with he dumb kid who hasnt eaten their yet. Repeat till the teacher catches you :)

3. Dont shove crayons up your nose the smell will stay there for days.

4. how to extend your nap time by:
a) eating everybodys cookies when they are asleep
b) napping while all the kids try to find where there cookies have gone

5. i learned that the hooks on the wall werent for hanging ppl i dont like

6. i also learned that if the felt marker smelled like cherry and had the same color as a cherry, its still not an edible cherry.

7. if you have yet to memorize the national anthem just keep mumbling words to the tune and no one will know.

8. dont yell at the boy next to you for taking your crayon your moms might turn out to be friends..

9. If you pull ur dress up to show everyone your Hello Kitty undies they're probably gonna call your parents and give a "talk".

10. If the kid next to you tells you that the teacher smokes cigarettes dont announce it to the class especially when you dont know what smoking means you'll probably get in trouble.

Some people dream of marrying royalty i dreamt of marrying Willy Wonka. After the guy who invented the internet, he is by far the smartest man ever. His candy is not only amazing, you can get high on it and and play with it. It is the ultimate tasty toy if you have the imagination for it.

Dont Mess With a Classic

I am a die hard movie addict but nothing pisses me off more than a book adaptation that changes the entire story or a really bad remake. "The Karate Kid" remake was one of those two. Don't get me wrong the movie was enjoyable and sort of funny but here are the top things that bugged me about it:

1. The movie is called KARATE kid not KUNG FU Kid the title should reflect the movie

2.it would be great if all the characters were not 12 for the story to be believable.

3. If this movie was supposed to be for kids i dont understand why Mr. Han (Mr. Miyagi) has to get drunk on chinease whiskey and bash a car that was depressing.

4. Hiring an accent coach wouldve been a good idea because i seriously could not take the bully seriously.

5. I know its a remake and the plot should be the same but they should have kept "Wax on/ Wax off" that line is GOLD.

6. DO NOT play lady gaga on a PG movie that's just bad parenting i get it's dance dance revolution but they could always put a disney song god knows those arent that innocent anymore.

7. Jayden's cornrows are cool but im pretty sure that's not the first time Chinese people see them for god's sake why do they keep asking to touch his hair that's pure RACIST!

and the most annoying thing is:

8. YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THE CRANE: the last moment of karate kid where he does the crane move that's when everything comes together! you have to at least respect that instead they give you a lame snake move , not cool Jayden Smith.

point is my children will see the original and if one of them dares claiming this is the better version i will disown them.

Toy Story Tuesday: "MOMMY I BURNT UR SHOES"

Brace yourselves this is a long one..

Technically this isn't a "childhood/toy story" story since it happened last week but i still consider myself as a child so :)

Here it goes: last week i was completely and utterly B.O.R.E.D so i did what i usually do, i opened my "crafts cabinet" (its filled with art supplies that i randomly buy) and i decided to plaster something, my friend suggested i plaster a heel so thats what i did. BUT the trouble is i didnt have an old heel (with my clumsiness i rarely buy them) I asked my mother for one and i told her i would try my best not to ruin it.

So i followed the instructions and covered it with Vaseline first so when the plaster dries i can take it off easier and less messier. After i did one side i decided to put it in the microwave because the INSTRUCTIONS said it would dry faster. turns out leather+ microwave+ plaster = not good!

After smelling burnt/melted leather i pried the microwave open to see what went wrong (in my defense i left the kitchen for a couple of seconds) The heel was so hot i picked up and threw at the nearest counter. Between the smell and the little burnt part my survival instincts told me to hide the evidence and flee the scene of the crime. I tested the water by telling my mom what happened, when i saw her face, i laughed and said it was a joke (im a chicken dnt judge me!)

I finished plastering the heel and spent hours trying to hide the burned part, let me tell u smth heels are hard to plaster! when it dried (the natural way) i didnt know what to do with it now that its done. Untill i decided to collage it some of my friends liked others hated it, you decide :)

A couple of years ago, a psychologist did a study about people who attempted suicide by throwing themselves off the Golden Gate Bridge. 70% answered that halfway through the fall they realized that all their problems had a solution and everything that pushed them to commit suicide could be fixed.

The picture above is a giant cartoon strip I made. The message is clear: whatever you're stressing about has a solution; because once you put things into prospective you will see that some things are more important than other so always always always ask yourself would it REALLY matter?

Okay guys here's the thing lately I lost my blogger mojo and sadly that's one of the things you can get back by pressing a button on your computer. However after a long session with a friend ( thank you cheez) I realized I haven’t been blogging things that make me the weird yet lovable (I hope) person that I am. I have far more opinions and talents that Im not going to keep hidden anymore! Sure my photography isn’t "OMG" material and my art is not "art" in the conventional sense and my views much like Sue Sylvester tend to piss off people but that's what I DO!

Here's the truth: I am a harry potter geek who is in love with coffee, can quote lines from movies and acts as a walking IMDb, I get a C in P.E, I HATE McDonalds, I break things then hide them (and if found I blame on the person nearest), I have the brain of a child, and the grumpy-ness of a 60 year old, and I'm not ashamed of it, and like many middle aged housewives I learned everything about life from Oprah.

I understand if what I just might freak you out (im one of a kind for a reason), but if you like what you just read and want to hear about my escapades or make fun of my art you are welcome to hit the follow button on the right side or pop in and lend me your opinion every once in a while..

Review: Owl City - Ocean Eyes

It's Monday again, so who's ready to read about some media? Just me...oh, you're listening? Well then enjoy.
I first heard of Owl City last summer. Not really knowing much about them, and since I hadn't actually heard any of the music, so I passed it/him/the band up. Firstly allow me to clear up what had previously confused even someone as lightning fast as me: Adam Young is a guy who makes music, a solo act, who goes by the stage name of Owl City. So this isn't actually a band in the traditional sense, just one guy who had trouble sleeping and ended up with an album.

The music may not be for everyone, but if you happen to have a liking for techno or dance music, then Ocean Eyes may be worth checking out. The fun beats aside, what I really love about Young's music would have to be his lyrics. They are clever, quirky and manage to work with the harmonies without feeling cliche. Another major plus in my book is that his music is fresh and original; it entertains with having to rely on references of P. Diddy, or slighty more sordid topics. All in all, it's a refreshing burst of originality and is sure to add some spark to your summer. Plus, he's representing for the Arabs with the Dubai Tower in his album cover...WIN!

A: watching a REALLY bad movie and making fun of it :)

The Challenge: eating a bucket of burnt butter pop corn and enduring a terrible chick flick.

The movie: "Beauty and the Briefcase"

There is nothing like this, i haven't done it in a while but trust me if anything can get me out of a bad mood it's this, and this movie was absolutely PERFECT. It had every quality i look for :

1. Has been actors/actresses (Hilary Duff)
2. Really cliche title
3. A very bad plot.

Warning: to get maximum pleasure from this activity i recommend you do it alone, and while you may feel like a crazy person by pausing and yelling at the obviously blond character who suddenly has a epiphany and becomes deep at the end of the movie (reference "Legally Blonde") or by laughing at a scene that's supposed to make you *aww*. It's also fun to pretend that you did not anticipate her falling in love with the "unexpected " guy at the end.

I was completely pleased with myself after realizing that the editor is Joy from "My name is Earl" you would be proud too considering she did not look the same AT ALL. Because i had so much fun making fun of it and i feel generous i shall give this movie a "D" rating.

Despite all the World Cup madness, I set aside a couple of hours this weekend to watch Diary of A Wimpy Kid for Cinema Sunday. I originally saw the trailer for back in February, and noted it as something I might watch when the first signs of summer boredom would rear their ugly head. After checking out the hype, I am pleased to report that I have nothing short of a rave review.

The plot is simple enough; Greg Heffley is an under grown seventh grader whose ambition often towers higher than his reach, literally. In an effort to try and make a name for himself in his new middle-school setting, Greg goes through one ridiculous plan after another, all in an attempts to be listed as a "Class Favorite" in the yearbook. Do I even need to mention that all of Greg's plans fail with miserable, and side-splitting, results? Didn't think so.

Jokes aside, I really enjoyed DOAWK because it's a hilarious reminder of just how cringe worthy middle-school is. Well, it was for me. If memory serves me right, I might even cop to having attempted a few of the schemes Greg and Rowely (his pudgy best friend) attempt. Don't be surprised to find yourself laughing out loud several times at the many familiar scenarios Greg and Rowley encounter. The producers got the casting down to a science with this one, because every actor fits their role perfectly. From the gross kid to the depressed teacher, everyone manages to shine in DOAWK. Not an easy feat in Hollywood....**Cough**Valentine's Day**Cough**

Worthy of an honorable mention is the insanely talented Chloe Moretz, better known as "Hit Girl" from another personal favorite, Kick Ass. Chloe stars as "Angie Steadman", a wise school-paper photographer. Her comedic timing and biting delivery are still there, and this time she gets to act a bit more her age, which is a nice contrast to her very adult turn in Kick Ass.

Overall, DOAWK recieves a well-earned thumbs up from me. Let's be honest, it's no Schindler's List, but if you're looking for a fun summer flick, then give this a whirl.

John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to 'A Day in the Life', have sold for $1.2 million at auction.

"Lennon's handwritten lyrics to the song, the final number on the Beatles album "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", had been expected to fetch between $500,000 to $700,000 at the Sotheby's New York auction.

The most amount ever paid for Beatles lyrics at auction was $1.25 million in 2005 for 'All You Need Is Love'.

The single sheet of paper features a rough draft of the lyrics, including crossings out. On the reverse side is a neater version with fewer corrections. It appears that the line "I love to turn you on" – which prompted a BBC ban because the words were deemed to be a reference to taking drugs – was added later.

Review: Owl City - Ocean Eyes

The music may not be for everyone, but if you happen to have a liking for techno or dance music, then Ocean Eyes may be worth checking out. The fun beats aside, what I really love about Young's music would have to be his lyrics. They are clever, quirky and manage to work with the harmonies without feeling cliche. Another major plus in my book is that his music is fresh and original; it entertains with having to rely on references of P. Diddy, or slight more sordid topics. All in all, it's a refreshing burst of originality and is sure to add some spark to your summer. Plus, he's representing for the Arabs with the Dubai Tower in his album cover...WIN!

It's Thursday, which means several things:

I am exhausted, for no reason other than it being Thursday
I am bored, and unsatisfied with how another precious week of summer went by
I've been having these...thoughts.

Yes, you guessed correctly; today is our first official "Thursday Thoughts" following our newer (and dare I say cooler?) scheduling. Don't get me wrong, myself and Obsessco are thrilled we have a few more readers and (always welcome) guests, but I've been finding it difficult to become excited over anything these days. Which would have meant nothing to blog about for today, except that I've stumbled upon a small reason to get excited again: Tea.
Specifically, a homemade mixture of red and green tea leaves, brought to a simmer in a delicate china teapot, served in an equally delicate china teacup. I know you're thinking that as a Kuwaiti I should have been drinking tea from the time I could crawl, but alas I never felt the sway tea seemed to have over so many Kuwaiti's, Middle-Easterners and Brits. Something shifted within me, and Sunday morning I made a pot for myself....and I have been loving it ever since. My only qualm is that I have discovered my love for this old favorite in one of the hottest summer spots in the world. Just my luck.

Off to capture a leprechaun (for luck, gold or an itty-bitty suit...who knows?),

I'm In Hot Water

I didn't know this was possible, but when did cold water become a luxury in Kuwait? Last summer I was talking to a friend of mine about the heat and what have you, when I decided to ask about something I had observed. I was hesitant to talk about it, because it seemed stupid. I asked said friend, "Why is the water always boiling hot in the summer?" My confusion stems from the fact that back home, the water is only hot if you turn the heater on. To which she replied "It's because the water is stored in these huge metal vats on the roofs of most homes, baking in the sun for 12-14 hours a day."
Um....okay?! Is is too much to ask for a cold shower after spending a few hours in the heat, trying to get errands done? Can't I have a peaceful, cool Wednesday like everyone else?

Call me a child but i still love classical Disney movies and I always will. Moving on here are the top reasons why Peter Pan is the best character ever :)

1. he can fly.
2. he believes in magic. (when you're a harry potter fan like me this is very important)
3. his arch nemesis is a pirate i mean come on the only way the villain can be cooler is if Captain Hook was a ninja.
4. he wears tights but u never notice that because he is so damn cool.
5. he NEVER grows up
6. he NEVER grows up (i have to repeat this because well he's young forever without having to be a disgusting vampire {twilight sucks!})
7. Neverland is awesome and he gets to live there.
8. His sidekick is a fairy :)

Apologies for the tardy behavior in regards to our new scheduling, but it appears that Blogger and Twitter ran off together yesterday in what I can only imagine was a bout of rebellion. This grievance caused varying degrees of frustration and boredom for yours truly. What with both Blogger and Twitter not working, I was left with nothing to do but aimlessly roam YouTube. While browsing through some of my "vintage" favorites (Just typing that makes me feel old), I came across this song, an undeniable classic.
Stan is a song by Eminem that I dug up from the days when his music was, you know, actually worth listening to. A gritty ballad recounting how one fan's obsession unfolds into the disparaging demise of several lives, this performance of Stan really captured the raw emotion that Eminem was known for in his earlier work. This intensity was the trait that set him apart from so many, and bestowed upon him the street cred that ultimately allowed for his place in Hip Hop history.

Toy Story Tuesday: "The Incident"

In my house there's a tale, a tale about an incident that my family will never let me forget. While most parents embarrass their children with naked baby pictures, mine prefer to tell this story to anyone who listens. When i was 7, my family went on a trip to Thailand, my mother being my mother just HAD to go into a china store.

I was skipping around minding my own business when a mug touched me and tipped over creating a domino effect that broke the rest on the shelf. Yes, i still maintain that it touched me and i am not at fault however no one would believe me back then and no one believes me right now.

To this day i am prohibited to go into China stores, and even if i'm allowed, any attempt to touch anything i get my hand slapped away. 8 years ago a mug touched me and i was punished for a crime i did not commit.. i shall forever harbor a secret hatred for mugs and Thailand ;)

Cinema Sundays

As S. and I promised today being "Cinema Sunday" i went to watch the A-Team(honestly how dedicated am i? :p). The movie was AWESOME, but only if you're an action/comedy person, in other words dont take your chick flick friends to see it because they probably wont appreciate it. The movie is the remake of the 80s hit tv show "the a-team" (obviously) its about four crazy soldier who get convicted and try to clear their name by pulling some crazy stunts, i know it sound typical but it really is awesome. They replaced Mr. T with "Rampage Jackson" and you wouldnt know Rampage unless you watch late night wrestling like me because you're to lazy to actually get the remote and change the channel, but enough talking about how i spend my nights. I should clarify that most of the action is the unrealistic kind so if you like my parents who LOVE to point out all the flaws in the plot you shouldnt go either(last time i took my mom to harry potter she pointed out how unrealistic it is and fell asleep) . Though the movie is two hours long it's never gets boring everytime you think you know whats gonna happen something else happens. I give it an A rating, buy a pirated copy, watch it online, download it, go to the cenima, i dnt care you have to watch it!

As most of you know (yes i found out some people dnt) today was the kick off for the world cup, before i go further you guys must know two things.

1. I'm not a big soccer fan.
2. Drogba is awesome.

Now that we established that we can move on, i have to ask how psyched is everyone for the world cup? Sure, kuwait MIGHT never win (they can one day you never know ;p) and who do you think will win? who are you cheering for? I personally wanted to Ivory Coast because Drogba played for them ( im a sucker for epic names) but now that he broke his arm... Im cheering for spain and argentina because... why not? (they have cool names too, thats mostly my reason)

Another true Random Story

when i was 12 i usedout to watch a cartoon named "Angela anaconda" (i still watch cartoons just not this one anymore). One of the episodes was about pen pals so naturally i had to get one, considering i can never wait for a letter to be sent and a reply i settled for a website that has a database of people which you could email via the website (so they never got your email). Now my mother didnt approve she thought all the people were pervy old people ready to pounce on my innocent youth ;p I dismissed this and assured her that it was innocent.

About a month after i signed up i started talking to this girl from Finland it was all nice and cute until she wrote "must be fun to ride a camel to school, how many bumps does yours have one or two?" After informing her that i ride a CAR (imagine her shock -.-) to school i stopped using the site because well, i rarely tolerate idiots (i did however tell her to use something called google).

A year ago i got a message from the site that i had an email from someone, it was *brace yourselves* a reeaalllyy creepy old guy from Zimbabwe telling me really creepy stalker things (my memory kinda blocked it all it was a very traumatic experience for me). I deleted the account on the profile and cursed angela anaconda for doing this to me.

Moral of the post: LISTEN TO YOU MOTHER! because if you dont you will forever be emotionally scarred just like me.

It was back in September when I first heard of Glee. I quickly dismissed it because, quite frankly, I wasn't interested in seeing another group of twenty-somethings try to pass off as teenagers in yet another prime time fail. I was still in high school and thought I knew what was cool. As fate would have it, immense amounts of boredom during my winter break would lead me back to Glee, and so I began watching it. Best decision of my life. Period.

Glee is a musical drama (just trust me on this one) with an edge. The show centers around the lives of a group of misfit teenagers, a gel-haired instructor and one angry Cheerios coach by the name of Sue Sylvester. Expect wit, side-splitting dialogue and fresh takes on some of your favorite oldies from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I should mention that the music is so good, I've downloaded all the songs from the show, and have it on repeat as we speak.

"Don't stop believing, just hold on to that..." What are you still doing here?! Get off your butt and start watching GLEE!
